Celery Avenue/Mellonville Avenue Trail (Lake Monroe Loop)

Seminole County is working to connect Sanford's Riverwalk to SR 415 to complete a missing piece of the Lake Monroe Trail Loop.

In September 2024, in collaboration with the City of Sanford, the County completed the construction of a 12-foot-wide multi-use concrete trail along Celery Ave from Mellonville Ave to South Elliot Street, adjacent to Tim Raines Sports Park, replacing the old sidewalk along Celery Ave.

The remaining construction of the Lake Monroe Trail Loop, to connect Sanford's Riverwalk to SR 415, will be split into two phases.

Celery Avenue/Mellonville Avenue Trail (Lake Monroe Loop) Phase 1

Phase 1 of this next project broke ground in spring 2025 and will extend the multi-use trail along Mellonville Ave from East Seminole Blvd to Celery Ave, continuing along Celery Ave from Mellonville Ave to just east of Sipes Ave. Phase 1 is funded through a combination of the third generation of the Penny Sales Tax and a Local Agency Program (LAP) agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation. Phase 1 is estimated to reach completion in early 2026.

Celery Avenue/Mellonville Avenue Trail (Lake Monroe Loop) Phase 2

Celery Avenue/Mellonville Avenue Trail (Lake Monroe Loop) Phase 2 will design and then construct a multi-use trail along Celery Avenue from approximately 343 feet east of Sipes Avenue to Chickasaw Drive.
